Endodontic Device
Apex Locator
Measure with confidence. Treat with precision.
VATECH's Apex Locator is an electronic endodontic device for accurate working-length determination. It locates the apical foramen with real-time readings during root canal treatment. It uses an innovative resonance technique that needs no calibration or zero setting, and it delivers up to 98% accuracy, a stable and responsive graph, and audible guidance. Endodontic procedures become faster, easier and more precise.

-
Up to 98% Accuracy. Apex Locator determines working length with up to 98% accuracy, giving you a dependable reference point before shaping and obturation. Real-time readings track the file as it moves toward the apical foramen, so you can stop with confidence instead of guessing. The root canal procedure becomes more controlled and predictable.
-
Innovative Resonance Technique. At its core is an innovative resonance technique. It reads the changing electrical characteristics inside the canal and turns them into a stable, responsive graph. Readings stay steady as the file moves, without the jumps that undermine trust in a measurement, so you see where the file is the moment it gets there.
-
Ready Instantly, No Calibration. There is no calibration and no zero setting: connect the lip hook and file clip, and start measuring. A first-in-class probe detection feature recognizes the probe as soon as it is connected, so the unit is ready when you are. Less setup leaves more time for the procedure itself.
-
Guided by Sound. A simplified display is paired with audible feedback, so you can keep your eyes on the patient. The tone's frequency changes as the file approaches the apical foramen, and a separate tone sounds when the apex is reached. You hear what the screen shows.
-
Rechargeable, Built to Last. A rechargeable 3.7 V, 1000 mAh Li-ion battery charges over USB Type-C, so there are no batteries to keep replacing. An auto power-off feature saves charge between patients and extends battery life through a busy day. At 150 g and 100 × 90 × 90 mm, the unit fits easily on any treatment tray.
-
Hygienic by Design. The accessories are autoclavable, so they go through your standard instrument sterilization cycle. The lip hook has an antimicrobial coating for an extra layer of infection control. The unit is backed by a 1-year warranty on the main unit and 6 months on accessories.

Frequently asked questions
What is an Apex Locator?
An electronic dental device that determines the working length of a root canal by locating the apical foramen during endodontic treatment.
How does an Apex Locator work?
It measures changes in electrical characteristics inside the root canal and gives real-time feedback to establish the working length.
Why is an Apex Locator important in root canal treatment?
It determines working length more accurately, reducing guesswork and making the procedure more controlled and predictable.
Can an Apex Locator be used in different types of root canals?
Yes. It can be used across a wide range of endodontic cases, though measurement performance can vary with canal conditions and the clinical situation.
Does an Apex Locator replace dental X-rays?
No. It is a complementary tool, to be used alongside clinical examination and radiographic assessment.
